Welcome to Bethlehem Lutheran Church!

We are glad you stopped by Bethlehem Lutheran Church on the web!  We are a community of Christ followers who believe in the amazing and life-giving power of Jesus Christ who brings hope to the world and forgiveness of our sins.

We hope you will take some time to explore our website and let us know what is helpful for you and your faith journey.

We invite you to join us for worship on Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM.  When we gather together for worship, we are given that new hope as we hear the story of Jesus and we are reminded of the forgiving and healing power of the cross.  We hope when you are in our area that you will visit us.  If you live in the area, we hope you will consider joining our faith community as we celebrate the Triune God each week.

Worship

Worship in the Lutheran church is about community in relationship with God.  When you come for worship at Bethlehem Lutheran Church you can expect to experience that relationship in amazing ways.  As a community we gather together to love, forgive, and serve one another.  As God’s people we gather in thanksgiving for what God has first given to us and we gather around the Word and Sacraments.

If you are a first time visitor to worship, you may find it helpful to read a brief explanation of how to worship with us, under the Education page (Worship Information).  Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Discipleship

We believe it is important to study God’s Word and to discover how the Bible relates to daily life.  By staying immersed in the Word, we believe we stay immersed in conversation with God.

Conversation with God should take the form of daily prayer and meditation.  Praying for the Holy Spirit to inspire us, praying for others whom we know or those in need in our world are good ways to begin.

As a part of discipleship, we believe it is important to consider how we are supporting the mission and ministry of your church.  Tithing does not happen all at once for most people, but through a deliberate effort and an awareness of how we are doing along the way, most people find it very rewarding to tithe inside of a short period of time.  Think about an increase of a percent or two each year until you reach the tithe.

Already there?  Great!  Consider how you can be a blessing to others through your increased offerings.  Is there an organization you want to support?  A student?  Do you feel passionate about brining a new ministry to our church or do you wish we could increase our support in some way?  Consider this your challenge!

Our Beliefs

Jesus is God’s son, sent by God to become human like us. In his life and being, he broke through the prison of sinfulness and thus restored the relationship of love and trust that God intended to exist between himself and his children. Though he is eternal, with God at the beginning of time, he was born on earth of a virgin, by the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus was at once truly God and truly human.

The man, Jesus of Nazareth, lived and died in Palestine during the governorship of the Roman administrator, Pontius Pilate; we believe him to be the Messiah chosen by God to show his love for the world. He is God, yet with all the limitations of being human. His relationship to God, however, was not one of sin but rather of perfect obedience to the Father’s will. For the sake of a sinful world, Jesus was condemned to death on the cross.

But death could not contain him. On the third day after his execution, the day Christians observe as Easter, Jesus appeared among his followers as the risen, living Lord. By this great victory, God has declared the Good News of reconciliation. The gap between all that separates us from our Creator has been bridged. Thus, Christ lives today wherever there are people who faithfully believe in him and wherever the Good News of reconciliation is preached and the Sacraments administered.
