Our hope for this space on the website is that we will be able to share recent activities that we celebrate together, as well as important times in the lives of our members.
Community Quilters
A reliable group of community quilters comes together each Monday from January through March to assemble quilts that benefit the local and surrounding areas as well as across the world. The blessing of the quilts occurs the Sunday prior to Palm Sunday. The quilts are on display in the sanctuary during the Peter Rabbit Hollow Bazaar, which is being held approximately two weeks prior to Easter each year on a Saturday.
Cheer Brunch
A group of community members gather each February to hear a community speaker relate information on a variety of topics. Past speakers have shared about travels and ministry acts to Israel, domestic violence programs for women and children, service dogs at local funeral homes and school districts, and various others.
Friendship Party
Around Valentine’s Day, a gathering is held to share a meal together and play games. We hope to practice some fellowship and help break up the winter months by coming together for this fun, family-friendly event.
Senior-Senior
In May of each year, any high school graduates from Bethlehem are honored with a special Fellowship, along with our “senior” members – all those who are over 80!
Ice Cream Social and Community Coffee
Each fall the community comes together to enjoy yet another meal together, as well as ice cream and other desserts. Additionally, a Community Coffee gathering is held during a weekday time period. These events are usually held in June.
In case you missed it…. us Lutherans enjoy gathering and sharing food with one another.
Lutheran World Relief Kits
Throughout the year, the women also organize different drives, including gathering supplies for baby care kits, personal care kits, and school kits. Additionally, the women seek donations of coats and insulated overalls in the winter months to disperse to the Domestic Violence Intervention Program in Iowa City. Similarly, a small clothing drive for children’s clothing, diapers, and other needed supplies for families with youngsters takes place each year that also benefits the DVIP program.
